Leisure Activities In And Around
Big Buddha Beach
The Big Buddha
at Koh Farn Of course the biggest attraction
on the beach is the Colossus himself... Pardon me, the
Buddha. The Buddha is built on Koh Farn and is the centerpiece
in a maze of shops and snack bars. There are many little
stalls to browse through, and the one at the end of the
row, where you need to take a load off your feet, is probably
the nicest one.
Apart from selling all sorts of Silver
items and other jewelry, it also has some clothes and
other bits and pieces, which give it a really quaint,
feel. The owners are local people who also offer some
Tea and coffee and snacks in their small cafe at the back,
which sits on their terrace overlooking the bay. This
is called the Farn Shop, so drop in and say hello. Other
weird and wonderful sights are all around you at Koh Farn
such as ancient looking (but recently made) Hindu and
Buddhist statues from their respective mythologies. The
Buddha itself is very domineering and once you have climbed
the many
steps up you'll enjoy the wonderful view and the cool
breeze.
